Equipping a gym: strength and cardio equipment

Opening a gym, a coaching studio or a fitness area in a hotel, company or residence? Based on your floor space, members and budget, we draw up the equipment list with you, consult several factories, inspect before shipment and consolidate the order into containers.

Strength machinesSelectorised (built-in weight stack) or plate-loaded: leg press, cable stations, lat pulldown, chest press, multi-stations.

Where fitness equipment is made in China

In Shandong, Dezhou, and especially Ningjin county, is one of the major fitness equipment hubs. Nantong, in Jiangsu, is also home to many manufacturers, and Yongkang, in Zhejiang, is known for hardware and exercise machines. Depending on your product, we favour the specialist factory over the generalist that does everything.

Rules to plan for

  • General product safety (GPSR): every consumer product must be safe, traceable and have a responsible operator in the EU.
  • Stationary training equipment: the EN ISO 20957 series of standards covers its safety. Part 2 covers strength training equipment; class S is for professional use (clubs, hotels, studios), class H for home use.
  • Electrical devices: CE marking and battery rules, see our electronics page.
  • Substances (REACH): PAHs in rubber and plastics in contact with the skin, and certain phthalates, are restricted.
  • Producer responsibility: in France, sports and leisure goods fall under an EPR scheme (Ecologic).
  • Padel courts: the safety glazing (10 or 12 mm tempered glass compliant with EN 12150, or laminated glass) is checked on the manufacturer's certificates.

Shipping: weight sets the price

A 20ft container of cast iron reaches its weight limit long before it is full, and heavy products are billed by weight in LCL. Mixing heavy and light products in one shipment often optimises the cost. Run the numbers with our CBM calculator.

Frequently asked questions

It depends on the product: low for branded accessories, higher for cast-iron weights or custom-built machines.

Yes: engraving, screen printing, colours and branded packaging.

Yes: carbon, fibreglass, EVA foam, on existing or custom moulds, with weight and balance checks.

It is billed by weight rather than volume. We optimise container loading and product mix to limit that cost.

Yes. Strength machines, racks, free weights, cardio and flooring can come from several specialised factories. We inspect each batch before shipment and consolidate everything into containers to keep shipping and customs costs down.

A selectorised machine has a built-in weight stack adjusted with a pin, which is quick and simple for members. A plate-loaded machine is loaded with free plates: it is often more compact and cheaper, but needs plates and storage nearby.

The EN ISO 20957 series: part 1 sets the general rules and usage classes, part 2 covers strength training equipment. For a gym open to the public, choose class S equipment (professional use) and check the manufacturer's test reports.

Yes. Many Chinese manufacturers produce complete padel courts. We compare offers, check what makes a good court (glass thickness and tempering, frame galvanisation and coating, turf density) and ship it by container to destination.

A regulation padel court is 20 m long and 10 m wide, enclosed by glass walls and wire mesh.

A panoramic court has no posts in its glass walls, which opens up the view for players and spectators. It costs more than a classic court, whose glass is held by a visible frame.

Yes: surfaces, nets, posts, fencing and lighting for tennis; complete courts, nets, paddles and balls for pickleball, whose court measures 13.41 × 6.10 m.
