Where textiles are made in China

Guangzhou brings together fabric markets and garment workshops. Humen, in Dongguan, specialises in womenswear. In Fujian, Jinjiang and Putian account for a large share of sportswear and sports shoe production. And Keqiao, in Shaoxing, hosts one of the world's largest fabric markets. The right workshop depends on your product, your volume and your standards.

From tech pack to approved batch

  1. Tech pack: materials, fabric weight, size chart, logo placement, labels.
  2. Prototype, adjusted until approved.
  3. Pre-production sample, in real materials and conditions.
  4. Production, with in-line follow-up.
  5. AQL inspection before shipping, with photos and a report.
  6. Shipping, LCL or full container.

EU rules to know

  • Fibre composition: mandatory labelling under EU Regulation 1007/2011, in the language of the country of sale.
  • REACH: certain azo dyes and substances are banned or restricted in textiles.
  • Producer responsibility: some countries, France first among them (Refashion), require clothing, home linen and footwear producers to join an EPR scheme.
  • Brands: no protected logo or pattern without authorisation. Counterfeits are seized at the border.
