Where jewelry and watches are made in China
Yiwu dominates fashion jewelry in very large volumes. Panyu, in Guangzhou, is a major hub for silver and precious-metal jewelry. Shenzhen combines the Shuibei district, specialised in gold, with a large share of the world's watch production.
Metal in contact with the skin
REACH limits nickel release from jewelry worn in prolonged contact with the skin, with a stricter threshold for piercing jewelry, as well as cadmium and lead content. A generic certificate is not enough: we have the actual production tested by an accredited laboratory.
For plated jewelry, plating thickness determines lifespan, and some countries regulate the terms you may use: in France, "gold plated" (plaqué or) requires a minimum gold thickness. Gold and silver jewelry is also subject to hallmarking rules in many countries: check before importing.

Watches: specific points
- Water resistance: a watch sold as water resistant must really be. ISO 22810 governs these claims: we have them tested.
- Batteries: button cells fall under the EU Batteries Regulation.
- Leather straps: chromium VI is limited by REACH, as for leather goods.
- Brands: no copies of protected designs or logos. Counterfeits are seized.

316L stainless steel usually releases little nickel, but that is not automatic. We have production tested before any claim is written.
